American Language Institute

Practice independently. Use it together.

ALI connects AI-supported practice, coach-led interaction and reflection around one communication goal.

Prepare with a purpose.

Review the assigned material and rehearse useful language. Supported AI practice can help you try an activity again; bring confusing feedback to your coach.

Participate with your cohort.

Your coach introduces a task, models useful language and creates opportunities to exchange meaning. Learners listen, respond and ask follow-up questions. The session centers on active use.

Reflect and retry.

Choose a specific improvement from the feedback. Try the task again, then revisit the skill later. Completing an activity is one signal; the language you can use is another.

Try an example.

Introduce yourself to a new colleague. Say what you do and ask about their work.

“Hi, I’m ___. I work in ___. I help with ___. What are you working on?”

Try it without reading. Add one detail. Then ask a follow-up question.

This is an illustrative task, not a live AI assessment or a recording of a class.

Why return to a skill?

Research supports distributing practice over time and using corrective feedback in second-language learning. These principles inform ALI’s design; they do not establish an ALI-specific outcome guarantee.
